Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

I recall the first time I ever saw snow.

18 years old, fresh off the boat nearly 10 years ago when we first moved over to the UK. You see in Durban we just don’t get snow.

Living in a studio flat in Marleybone (yes it’s true we had a W1 post code – no jokes!) we received an early morning call at 5:30am from fellow South African friends announcing that it was Snowing! Oh the excitement. Craig and I leapt out of bed and quickly made our way upstairs to see the wonder of white fluffy powder coating everything from benches to red telephone boxes. Snow has a way of making everything look magical. I still remember Craig going out in a pair of shorts – a very South African thing to do – we have learned to be more prepared over the years! We proceeded to make a mini snow man, as you do, and took a ludacris amount of photographs with our film camera.

The novilty of winter does start to wear thin after a few years, but there is still something about snow that makes me break out into song “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” Ally McBeal / Scrubs style, in my head of course 🙂 – well, sometimes out load too if nobody’s around!

There is a severe weather warning out at the moment across the UK. Travel chaos has ensued including the closer of Gatwick airport and 4 Eurostar Trains being stuck over night in the channel tunnel! Keeping positive about the white stuff, I decided to take a wonder with our little dog AKA Marely or the Marley Moo as he is affectionately known. He luuuuurves the snow. Too much fun!
