Camden Town is the perfect location for a London Pre Wedding Shoot. The couple’s wedding reception will be held at Wentworth Golf Club next weekend and this was a great way for us to really get to know them and for the couple to see how we shoot. I want our couples to walk away from an engagement session like this knowing that they can feel relaxed and have fun with it – even laugh out loud if they want to!

Pre-Wedding Punting! {Elaine and Tony}

This brave pair proposed a spot of punting during their Cambrige Pre Wedding Shoot, rather you than me guys! Well done you did a wonderful job – and by you I mean Tony! Elaine had the right idea, sit pretty in the boat and enjoy the ride. Elaine pre-arranged special access for us to take photographs around the grounds of St Johns College Cambridge, this is very wise as security can be very strict within the colleges in Cambridge. We had bags of fun running around the grounds and finding some great new locations. Congratulations to both of you and I hope your wedding in Hong Kong is an amazing one.

Greenwich Pre Wedding Shoot {Fabia and Areif}

3 outfit changes! Yip, that’s right, you heard me correctly. The first was a gorgeous gown that picked up the light beautifully, the second was a deep red Chinese evening dress and the last was a fun, quirky relaxed outfit which suited the cafe and alleyway locations that we found around Greenwich Market.

When I received a call from my talented photographer friend, Marianne Taylor the night before she was due to shoot a Pre Wedding Engagement Session in London, to say that she had tripped down some steps and seriously hurt her foot, I jumped at the chance to help her out by taking on the shoot. A big thank-you to Marianne for thinking of me! Craig was not available for this shoot so I called up Chris Mann who stepped up to the plate and came along with me to second shoot.

The Greenwich Maritime Museum is the perfect backdrop for a wedding and is available as a London wedding venue. Unfortunately we where not permitted to shoot within the grounds or buildings but we did find a great vantage point from Greenwich Park for the creative portraits.

I am absolutely loving the Pre-Wedding Portrait shoots and we are looking forward to shooting many more in the upcoming year. These couple sessions can be done at any time, not just for engagements, we have actually done couple shoots for people who are just vacationing in London as well as doing Post Wedding Sessions that happen a few months after the wedding date.

London Lovers in the Spring Time

Anniversaries can be tricky get right. What to buy as a special gift, where to dine, what to do? For Kimiko and Wei who are from Japan and Malaysia respectively, chose to share in a post wedding couple portrait shoot around the parts of London that mean the most to the two of them. Living near Hyde Park lends itself to romantic strolls in the park, stopping to smell the flowers and wandering the pastel coloured streets near the King’s Road. I have a sneaky suspicion that Kimiko was eyeing out her future home in that little street!

University Challenge {Dorothy and Edwin}

With its rich heritage and grand architecture, it’s little wonder that past students would find it fitting to have a pre wedding shoot in such historical surroundings. We arranged to meet Edwin and Dorothy at the entrance to Kings College in Cambridge. What we love about Chinese couples is the sheer enthusiasm they bring to a shoot. As they had already done a pre wedding session in Hong Kong, they were wonderfully comfortable in front of the camera. Dorothy was dressed in a floaty “prima ballerina” wedding dress dress fashioned out of tulle while Edwin was looking rather dapper in his sharp suit.

Moving through the streets with bride and groom in tow is always going to generate attention from well wishers and passersby. This attention seemed to phase neither Edwin nor Dorothy who took everything well within their stride and seemed genuinely delighted with the friendly responses. Walking through the cobbled streets you’re never far away from quintessential Cambridge architecture, from the exposed face-brick to columns supporting the roofs over the various learning facilities. Cambridge certainly allows itself to be captured in the best possible light.

It must be noted though that Cambridge is first and foremost a learning facility, and as such a sense of restraint must be applied when wandering around the campus grounds. To avoid the scorn of the on site security guards, it is recommended to get permission first before undertaking any on location shots. We were however truly blessed with an abundance of accessible locations albeit with a bit of friendly negotiation.

Spring has sprung in London Town {Florence and Phil}

Florence wore the most stylish Carrie Bradshaw-esque floaty number, and Phil looked dapper in a slick black suite with bow tie. The couple are a little on the shy side when it comes to being in front of the lens and voiced their concerns to me before hand. I hope that they had as much fun as I did during the shoot and relaxed along the way. I think you will see some actual laugh out load moments during the session – hey I don’t mind if people laugh with me (or should I say at me?), as long as we all feel loosened up.

Florence and Phil live in Hong Kong and by chance would be visiting London April / May for business and hence wanted to book a pre wedding shoot around the famous landmarks of the city of London. It was a bit touch and go with regards to doing the shoot at one point due to one very inconvenient ash cloud. Phil was still stuck out in Hong Kong and we where stuck in Madrid. Lucky we where all able to be flexible and move the date to a few days later and go ahead with the session then.

From Paris with Love

These are a set of pictures that I have never shown on the blog up until now.
Back in July 2008 Craig and I joined a few highly talented wedding photographers on a trip to Paris.
Those highly talented people include Bev & Barrie Downie, Gordon McGowan and Louise Sumner.
I can’t even begin to describe how much we learned during this trip –
posing, lighting and seeing great spots and opportunities for shots all around us.

Paris provides the perfect backdrop for model shoots as well as for romantic, atmospheric pre wedding engagement shoots.
We cannot wait to return and shoot there in 2010.

Avante Garde Wedding Shoot in Venice

Continuing with our pre wedding shoot series I wanted to show some photographs that we did in Venice a couple of years back.
Venice is the most unbelievable location for a wedding or a pre/post wedding shoot. Around every corner is another treasure.
I have also included some of our street photography. We where fortunate enough to visit during the annual Venice Carnival.

A Splash of Red {Pre Wedding Engagement London}

This is the next installment of my pre wedding shoot series.

Add something like a specific colour to run through the shoot and to tie in with your Actual Day.
Wendy and Greg have a theme of Red and White for their wedding coming up soon in South Africa.
They added in a few things like the red coat, red parasole and red shoes to link up the theme of the wedding.
(Cannot wait to shoot your game reserve wedding guys!)

I have been thinking that doing some pre wedding or post wedding shoots in South Africa with the animals in the game reserve as it would be really unique. The Game Reserve where they are tying the knot does not have any predators like Lions or Leopards, so it would be safe to get out the car and do some creative shots with animals like Giraff, Zebra and White Rhino (yes they do have Rhino!).
We will be in South Africa covering two weddings for a month from 15 March – 15 April 2010.

London Pre Wedding shoot location ideas include Tower Bride, The Mayor’s Office as well as the cobbled back streets surrounding the edge of the Thames near Tower Bridge.

Pre / Post Wedding Shoots in London

I am going to do series of posts highlighting our pre and post wedding shoots.
Couple portrait sessions can be done at any time before or after the wedding, even a few years later for an anniversary perhaps?
We have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people from the UK, America, South Africa, China and Singapore.
Including some of London’s iconic sites in our pre wedding photography whilst giving it a fresh editorial fashion feel.
